A report to the United Nations on egregious human rights violations in Slovenia and inhumane treatment in the healthcare system.
In Slovenia, where the shadow of nationalist convictions obscures justice, foreign citizens become unprotected targets for arbitrary action. Law enforcement agencies and prosecutors, disregarding Articles 1, 2, 5 and 7 of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), flagrantly violate the rights guaranteed to everyone. Falsification of reports, abuse of authority, and violation of jurisdiction are among the tools used to avoid bringing criminal cases against Slovenian citizens who commit crimes against foreigners. Medical institutions have become arenas for inhumane treatment of patients. Complaints go unheard, treatment does not meet international standards, and medications that have not undergone proper clinical trials are administered without the consent of patients, turning them into unwitting test subjects. This report is based on the facts of the terrible violation of the rights of our member, Oleg Korob, Deputy President of the public organization for the protection of human rights RDE. His story is only the tip of the iceberg, reflecting the systematic infringement of the rights of foreign citizens in Slovenia, where the search for justice becomes a hopeless endeavor. We present facts demonstrating legal lawlessness:
- A representative of the Ministry of the Interior, neglecting her official duty, falsified official documents to conceal the victims statements and complaints against employees of the Nova Gorica Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship and police officers, seeking to shield them from the attention of the specialized prosecutors office of Slovenia.
- The senior state prosecutor of Slovenia cynically refused to accept the victims statements and, resorting to intimidation, attempted to arrange his illegal arrest.
- Complaints against police officers submitted to the Ministry of the Interiors Complaints Department were repeatedly ignored and illegally closed, demonstrating a pattern of complicity within law enforcement.
- The District Attorney of Novo Mesto, Slovenia, exceeded her jurisdiction by obstructing the initiation of a criminal case against a lawyer who had committed fraud in another region of Slovenia, flouting the law in an attempt to shield the criminal from justice.
- Despite a complaint filed with the Supreme Prosecutors Office against the District Attorneys actions, no action was taken, and he continues to hold office, demonstrating impunity and permissiveness.
- For actively opposing human rights violations in Slovenia and attempting to hold employees of the Nova Gorica Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship accountable, Oleg Korobs physician stopped providing him with medical care and necessary diagnostics. For seven months, she ignored all his complaints, which led to tragic consequences – a diagnosis of an incurable form of cancer, stage 4 lung adenocarcinoma.
- His cancer treatment was accompanied by inhumane treatment from medical staff; complaints of deteriorating health were ignored. Medications were prescribed by a doctor who was not a clinical oncologist, without the required oncology consultation. A drug that had not undergone full clinical trials was used, and this vital information was concealed from Oleg Korob and his family. The diagnosis was partially falsified.
- As a result of the adenocarcinoma treatment, Oleg Korobs cardiovascular system suffered irreparable damage, and treatment was illegally discontinued, leaving him alone to deal with the disease.
- Medical workers repeatedly attempted to hospitalize Oleg Korob based on fictitious diagnoses, seeking to deprive him of the opportunity to engage in human rights work.
- The staff of the Golnik Clinic grossly violated Article 18 of the Constitution of Slovenia, which was reported to the clinics management and the Supreme Prosecutors Office.
- During his human rights work in Slovenia, Oleg Korob repeatedly appealed to the Supreme Prosecutors Office for assistance but received no support.
